DO WE NEED REVELATION KNOWLEDGE TODAY?

Prov 29:18 A Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law.  (NKJ)

2 Pet 1:20-21 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
21 for
prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
(NKJ)

I ONCE ASKED THE LORD - - MY QUESTION WAS, "FATHER THERE ARE SO MANY CHURCHES IN THIS AREA THAT DON'T ALLOW YOUR HOLY SPIRIT TO MOVE IN THEIR SERVICE. WHY?" AND THE LORD SAID "BECAUSE MY SPIRIT BRINGS CONVICTION AND THEY DON'T WANT THAT."

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

THERE ARE MANY THINGS IN THE WORD, THAT WE ALL KNOW. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT WE ALWAYS PRACTICE THEM TO THE EXTENT THAT GOD WANTS US TO.

GOD AT VARIOUS TIMES HAS SAID TO OUR CHURCH BODY, NOT SINGLING OUT ANY ONE PERSON, BUT SPEAKING TO THE BODY AS A WHOLE. "I HAVE HEARD BACK BITING AND MURMURING. OR YOU NEED TO WALK IN HOLINESS". HE HAS TOLD US AT TIMES TO IMPROVE, OR WORK ON, YOUR LOVE WALK. AND MANY OTHER THINGS ETC ETC.

MAY I SUGGEST TO YOU THAT WE NEED THAT SUPERNATURAL REVELATION FROM GOD.  IF FOR NO OTHER REASON WE NEED IT FOR CORRECTION AND DIRECTION.

MAY I PROPOSE TO YOU THAT THIS IS ONE, AND I EMPHASIZE THE WORD (ONE) THERE ARE OTHER WAYS OF COURSE BUT (ONE) OF THE REASONS GOD HAS GIVEN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT TO THE SAINTS OF GOD AND THE CHURCH BODY AS DESCRIBED IN CORINTHIANS 12 VERSE 8 IT READS LIKE THIS:

1 Cor 12:8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, (NKJ)

9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, (NKJ)

10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

NOT AS WE WILL BUT AS HE WILLS

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

GOD WANTS TO COMMUNICATE TO US BY THE POWER OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT.  MANY TIMES HE WANTS TO BRING CERTAIN THINGS TO OUR ATTENTION.  GOD WANTS TO TALK TO HIS KIDS!   WE ARE HIS CHILDREN AND HE WANTS TO TALK TO US.

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

NOW I WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE A QUESTION.  ARE THE END TIMES HERE AND NOW?  MANY BELIEVE THAT WE ARE LIVING IN THE TIMES DESCRIBED IN THE WORD OF GOD AS THE END TIMES. IF THAT IS TRUE AND I BELIEVE IT IS, THE QUESTION PRESENTS ITSELF.

SHOULD WE HEAR MORE FROM GOD BY THE POWER OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT MORE THAT IS THAN WE HAVE HEARD IN THE PAST?

TO ANSWER THAT LETS LOOK AT WHAT THE WORD SAYS. ALWAYS GO TO THE WORD.

Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. (NKJ)

THEN JUMPING OVER TO THE NEW TESTAMENT THIS COMES AGAIN IN ACTS CHAPTER 2 READING THREE VERSES 16,17,18:

Acts 2:16 "But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.

18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.

An example of personal prophecy given in Acts and a comment made by Jack Hayford

Acts 21:10 During our stay of several days, a man named Agabus, who also had the gift of prophecy, arrived from Judea.
11 When he visited us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, "The Holy Spirit declares, 'So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Romans.' " (NLT)

Pastor Jack Hayford comments:  The Issue of Personal Prophecy.

The Bible clearly allows for personal prophecyNathan brought David a confrontive "word from God" ( 2 Samuel 12:13): Isaiah predicted Hezekiah's death (Is. 38:1): and in this text Agabus told Paul he faced trouble in Jerusalem.  "Personal prophecy" refers to a prophecy (word") the Holy Spirit may prompt one person to give another, relating to personal matters.  Many feel deep reservations about this operation of the gift of prophecy because sometimes it is avbused.  True "words" may be used to manipulate others, or they may be unwisely or hastily applied.  This passage reveals safeguards against abusive uses of personal prophecy, allowing us to implement this bibitcal practice.  First the "word" will usually not be new to the mind of the person addressed, but it will confirm something God is already dealing with him about.  From Acts 20:22-24 we know Paul was already sensitive to the issue Agabus raised.  Second, the character of the person bringing the "word" ought to be weighed.  Agabus's credibility is related not to his claim of having a "word" but to his record as a trustworthy man of God used in the exercise of this gift (11:28; 21:10).  Third, remember that the prophecy, or "word" is not to be considered "controlling."  In other words, such prophecies should never be perceived as dominating anyone's free will.  Christian living is never cultist-governed by omens or the counsel of gurus.  Paul did not charge his plans because of Agabus's prophecy or because of the urging of others (vv.12-14); he received the "word" graciously but continued his plans nonetheless.  Fourth, all prophecy is "in part" (1 Cor. 13:9), which means that as true as that "part" may be, it does not give the whole picture.  Agabus's "word" was true, and Paul was bound in Jerusalem.  But this also occasioned an opportunity to eventually minister in Rome (Acts 23:11).  Finally, in the light of a "word" we should prayerfully consider the word as Mary did the shepherds' report (Luke 2:19).  A hasty response is never required; simply wait on God.  We should then move ahead with trust in God, as Hezekiah didHe had been told that he would shortly die; but he prayed instead of merely surrendering to the prophecy, and his life realized its intended length-unshortened by his diseased condition.  Occasional personal prophecy is not risky if kept of biblical footings, but neither is it to become the way we plan or direct our lives.  (2 Peter 1:16-19/Acts 11:27-30)    J. ==  JUDGING PROPHECY  ==

A PERSON ONCE SHARED WITH ME. SO AND SO HAD THUS AND SUCH PROPHESIED OVER THEM A LONG TIME AGO. SEE IT WAS OFF. IT NEVER CAME TO PASS. WAIT A MINUTE. WHAT WAS THE TIME LIMIT? MANY TIMES THINGS DON'T HAPPEN OVER NIGHT. I HAVE HAD THINGS PROPHESIED OVER ME MANY YEARS AGO THAT HAVE NOT COME TO PASS. PROPHECY GIVEN TO ME BEFORE I EVER EVEN KNEW ANYONE IN THE CORTLAND, NEW YORK AREA ANY FULL GOSPEL PEOPLE THAT IS, OR THOSE THAT FLOWED IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT. BUT THOSE PROPHECIES WERE RIGHT ON. GOD HAS CONFIRMED SOME OF THOSE THINGS TO ME. SOME OF THOSE THINGS HAVE COME TO PASS. OTHERS HAVEN'T BEEN FULFILLED YET. BUT THEY WILL BE. PROVIDING I FOLLOW GOD'S DIRECTION. WHAT IF GOD SAID TO YOU I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU A GIANT IN MY CHURCH, A LEADER OR WHATEVER. IF YOU NEVER OPENED YOUR BIBLE AND STUDIED THE WORD. HOW COULD YOU EVER BE A LEADER? IT WOULD BE LIKE THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND. IT'S VERY POSSIBLY THAT PROPHECY WILL NEVER COME TO BE FULFILLED. THAT IS IF YOU NEVER DID YOUR PART AND PREPARED YOURSELF.

JUDGING PUBLIC PROPHECY IN PUBLIC ASSEMBLY

I HAVE HEARD BELIEVERS JUDGE PUBLIC PROPHECY, BY BODY ENGLISH. PEOPLE HAVE SAID TO ME "LOOK AT THEM THEIR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS CHANGE. THEIR VOICE CHANGES. THEY TURN IN A CERTAIN DIRECTION. THEY ALWAYS DO THIS OR THAT WHEN THEY ARE BRINGING A WORD FORTH." SOME PEOPLE USE THESE THINGS AS INDICATORS TO JUDGE AS TO WEATHER OR NOT A PERSON IS BRINGING GOD'S WORD FORTH OR IF THEY ARE SPEAKING OUT OF THEIR OWN HEART, BODY ENGLISH.  FOLKS WHERE IN GOD'S WORD DOES HE SAY THAT WE ARE TO JUDGE PROPHECY THAT WAY? IF IF YOU FIND THAT IN THE WORD OF GOD PLEASE COME SHARE THAT WITH ME. I WOULD SURE LIKE TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

NEVER LOOK AT THE VESSEL (THE PERSON). THEY ARE ONLY SOMEONE GOD IS USING AT THAT TIME. NOTICE IN GOD'S WORD THAT AT ONE TIME HE EVEN SPOKE THROUGH A DONKEY. ONE OF GOD'S PROPHETS WAS DOING SOME THINGS THAT WERE NOT PLEASING TO GOD. LETS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS IN --

Num 22:27 And when the donkey saw the Angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam's anger was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff.

28 [[ Then the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey,]] and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" (NKJ) INCREDIBLE

WOULDN'T IT BE SOMETHING IF GOD HAD TO USE A DONKEY TO BE ABLE TO BRING FORTH A WORD TO THE CHURCH TODAY?  FOLKS FORGET THE VESSEL. PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORD BEING BROUGHT FORTH. DOES IT LINE UP WITH THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD?

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

GOD IS PERFECTBUT GOD HAS TO WORK THROUGH IMPERFECT VESSELS.  IS IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE MOVING IN THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT TO MISS IT?  SURE ALL PROPHECY MUST LINE UP WITH THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD.  THAT'S WHY GOD TELLS US TO KNOW HIS WORD.  STUDY THE WORD TO SHOW THY SELF APPROVED.

2 Tim 2:15  SAYS

15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (NKJ)

TAKE A LOOK AT THREE VERSES IN FIRST THESSALONIANS CHAPTER FIVE AND DOWN TO VERSE 19

1Thes 5:19 Do not [[ quench ]] the Spirit. (NKJ)

 THE GREEK

4570 sbennumi (sben'-noo-mee); ----

a prolonged form of an apparently primary verb; [[to extinguish (literally or figuratively):]] KJV-- go out, quench.

1Thes 5:20 Do not [[ despise ]] prophecies. (NKJ)

  THE GREEK

1848 exoutheneo (ex-oo-then-eh'-o); a variation of 1847 and [[meaning the same: ]] KJV-- [[contemptible,]] despise, [[ least esteemed,]] [[ set at nought ]].

1Thes 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. (NKJ)

-  ><>  -  ><>  -   -  <><  -  <><  -

HERE ARE SOME OF THE POINTS TO THINK ABOUT.  GOD TELLS HIS PEOPLE WHAT IS DOWN THE ROAD AHEAD OF THEM.  GOD TOLD HABAKKUK TO:

Hab 2:2  "Write the vision and make it plain

3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.

GOD WANTS TO TALK TO US.

GOD CAN USE ANYONE HE WANTS TO BRING FORTH A WORD. DON'T PAY ATTENTION TO THE PERSON BRINGING THE MESSAGE.  IF GOD USES YOU IN SPIRITUAL GIFTS, ALWAYS REMEMBER TO GIVE GOD THE CREDIT.  EXPECT THE HOLY SPIRIT TO MOVE WITH GREATER REVELATION KNOWLEDGE AND THROUGH MANY MORE VESSELS THAN HE HAS USED IN THE PAST.  WHY?  BECAUSE WE ARE IN THE END TIMES.
